How safe is my money?
Your money is extremely secure. In fact, customer losses due to the insolvency of a futures brokerage firm have been virtually non-existent. Indeed, such losses have totaled less over 50 years than the Securities Investor Protection Corporation has paid, on the average, to reimburse customers of the securities industry for member firms insolvency losses each year.
Do people really strike it rich in commodity trading?
Yes. There have been instances of wild profits. However, the risk involved in achieving these outrageous profits is usually equally outrageous. Professional commodity money managers typically scale down the leverage and strive for returns in the 20-30% category. In our opinion this is a much sounder business approach. If you are trying to get rich quick, the markets may quickly take your money.
How important is money management?
Extremely. Poor money management, under-capitalization and over-trading probably cause far more losses than an inability to predict price direction. You must have and utilize sound money management. See our comments under philosophy.
